Tahun ini Hari Buruh bertepatan pada hari Senin, 1 Mei 2023. Dilansir dari berbagai sumber, peringatan Hari Buruh di tahun ini sebanyak 200 ribu buruh atau pekerja diperkirakan akan melakukan aksi pada May Day 1 Mei 2023.

Sejarah singkat dari Hari Buruh Sedunia ini yaitu pada 1986 adanya sebuah gerakan demonstrasi besar yang terjadi di Amerika Serikat. Di mana dilatarbelakangi adanya demonstrasi atau unjuk rasa untuk menuntut perusahaan McCormick Harvesting Machine Company.

Aksi demonstrasi tersebut disebut dikenal sebagai peristiwa Haymarket Riot yang membuat kegaduhan antara polisi dan massa buruh.

Maka dari itu, pada 1989 Kelompok Federasi Internasional pun menyepakati Hari Buruh Sedunia diperingati pada 1 Mei.
